Things To Do While You're Here
Looking for some fun adventures while you’re here? Table Rock Lake offers 850 miles of shoreline to explore, and Shell Knob is one of the main tourist destinations on the lake.
Swimming or boating anyone? Swimming, boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and jet skiing are just waiting for you here on the quiet side of the lake. After a long day on the water, we suggest dining at one of our local eateries such as Steak Inn, The Port Grill, Garcia’s, Subway, Road House Grill, Pizza Hut, B & J, Country Diner or Icy Mae’s Coffee House.
Let’s go fishing! In early spring many species of fish swim up the Kings River to spawn. Walleye start moving up river in February, followed by White Bass, Black Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Crappie and Catfish. Some of the biggest fish of the year are caught late March through early June. Shell Knob is host to many fishing tournaments throughout the year, including the spring and fall Shriners' Open Bass Tournaments and the Homer Sloan Buddy Bass Tournament in October.
Just 32 minutes west is Roaring River State Park, known for its premier Trout fishing. The river is stocked regularly by the Park's hatchery, which is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. The kids will love Roaring River Water Slide, owned locally for 36 years and just a short drive from the state park.
Let’s go shopping! There are several unique shops in Shell Knob: The Red Barn Flea Market, Cabin Fever, Farmer’s Daughter Floral and Greenhouse, Vanderhoof Gardens, The Old Church Gallery and Ski & Sports. Don’t forget about our local Farmers Market!
Less than an hour south is Eureka Springs, Arkansas, a Victorian town nestled in the Arkansas hills. With distinctive shops and galleries, excellent restaurants, wine tasting, spas, musical variety shows, an 1800’s antique train yard and historic haunted hotels, it’s easy to spend a day in Eureka Springs.
Don’t miss Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, home of rescued lions and other big cats. Other popular family activities nearby include Cosmic Cavern - one of the Ozarks’ prettiest caverns - and horseback riding at one of the local stables. A few miles north of Eureka Springs is Promised Land Zoo, a drive-thru exotic animal park with a delightful petting zoo. Fun for the whole family!
In less than an hour you can be in Branson, Missouri, where a huge entertainment district offers live music shows, comedy, magic, museums, a water park, outlet malls and nearby attractions like Silver Dollar City.
Springfield, Missouri is only an hour's drive north, and is home to the world headquarters of the famous Bass Pro Shops. Large fish tanks with native species are entertaining and there’s a museum on the grounds full of outdoor-related exhibits.
